The Macromedia University of Applied Science is a private educational institution headquartered in Munich with locations in Stuttgart, Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin and Osnabrück. Macromedia started as a vocational training provider for the media profession in 1993, the time when media became digital. While the teaching of digital literacy is still at the center of its teaching, Macromedia University has developed a profile as a broad-based education partner for lifelong learning in the meanwhile.

Life-Long-Learning – Academy, University and Executive School

With the three units Academy, University and Executive School, Macromedia offers a dense range of programs in the tertiary education sector. The aim is to create a high permeability between all programs. Thus the learning pathways of Macromedia are accessible from different entry points, depending on one’s high school diploma, professional experience and personal goals.

Vocational trainings for media professionals – Macromedia Academy

Macromedia Academy has been training media professionals for 21 years. The range of programs includes trainings for the media industry, for the fields of advertisement, sports, events and IT. All programs such as “media and sound designer” or “digital and print media designer” are certified by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. By cooperating with an English University Macromedia Academy enables participants to enroll in a Bachelor’s Degree Program without a formal university-level entrance qualification. In the study programs "Digital Media Engineer", "Digital Media Designer" and "Digital Media Mobile" Academy students acquire a German vocational degree after two years of classes. Study programs in management, media, film, design and journalism – Macromedia University

The undergraduate education of Macromedia University is organized in three Schools: The Business School with a program in Management (BA ), the Media School with programs in „Media Management“ (BA ) and „Journalism“ (BA) and the School of Creative Arts with programs in „Media and Communication Design“ (BA) as well as „Film and Television“ (BA). All programs end after seven semesters and are distinguished by their proximity to relevant industry practice - according to the current CHE university ranking, Macromedia ranks among Germany’s top universities if it comes to the practical relevance of its curricula. The Bachelor-programs include an internship as well as a fully integrated semester abroad at one of Macromedia’s 15 partner universities worldwide. With Retail Services, International Management, Marketing Management, Design Management, Media and Communication Management and Media Design Macromedia also offers six undergraduate courses in English-language.

The graduates of the University work as juniors and professionals in leading agencies, media companies and firms, including ARD (WDR / SWR ), Adidas, Axel Springer, Audi, Burda, BMW, German Telekom, Edelman, Gruner + Jahr , RTL, Siemens, SKY, Vok Dams and Warner Music.

At its Munich and Berlin sites, Macromedia University has established a Graduate School as well. Master students are enrolled in the Open Media Master, choosing between the tracks “Media and Design” (MA), “Media and Communication Management” (MA ) and “Journalism” (MA).

The study programs of Macromedia University are accredited by the agency FIBAA. In addition Macromedia received institutional accreditation by the German “Wissenschaftsrat” in 2011 (the highest-ranking Science Advisory Board of the German Government). More at >

Academic trainings for working professionals – Macromedia Executive School

In April 2014 Macromedia Executive School started with certified courses on “Change and Crisis Management”, “Change and crisis communications” and “Cultural Management” in Munich, Cologne and Berlin. By establishing the Executive School, Macromedia University reacted to the huge demand for specialized training in the field of media and digital communications across all industries and company sizes.
